Protests erupt outside Kasba Police station as 3 arrested in alleged Kolkata college gang rape
The Kolkata Police recovered a sum of Rs 65 lakh in cash after conducting a search of a residential property located in the Tangra Road area. The man who owned the property was arrested by the police on charges of fraud.
The suspect allegedly cheated people out of approximately Rs 1.5 crore by creating a fake website related to investment in gold. The individual in custody has been identified as Benjamin, a 28-year-old male.
The police raided Benjamin's flat, which was located in the Christopher Road area of the Tangra police station jurisdiction. During the search, they recovered a large sum of cash amounting to Rs 65.6 lakh along with various electronic devices. The sight of such a significant amount of cash surprised the officers.
According to the police, Benjamin enticed individuals to invest in a fraudulent gold business. His bank account provided crucial information to the authorities regarding his illegal activities.
